Star Wars Re-booted?

In the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex article, ‘Star Wars’ writer Lawrence Kasdan wants spinoff film to ‘start fresh’, Larry Kasdan who wrote "Empire Strikes Back" and has directed numerous films says he wants a "Star Wars" that everyone can enjoy -- even his grandson who is 3 is excited about it...

What is interesting is, some of us superfans, will find that all the work in the Star Wars Expanded Universe (SWEU) is trashed and mean very little. He also says he doesn't care about social media. I guess the social media metrics that test the market does not count for what a demographic of Star Wars fans find valuable.

Guess what? Politics has changed, too. Our system of government has changed. The world has changed. But past history should not be negated just because it is too much, or dry, or stories that are unfamiliar. Where are the young writers who need a chance and are massive Star Wars fans?

Perhaps it is time we secede from this unchanging Republic and create our own government that honors our business skills. It shall be called: the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

War on Two Fronts ~ From A Seppie POV

"A War on Two Fronts" episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars started out with this fortune cookie:

It started with the usual characters

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker and Captain Rex

Captain Rex had a new uniform. Somewhat a precursor to the Imperial Uniform. But more rogue-rebel like.

***SPOILERS***

The quartet had gone to Onderon to assist the rebels fighting the Separatist Droid Army.

We are introduced to two new characters who are brother and sister - Saw Gerrera and Steela Gerrera:

Saw Gerrera

Steela Gerrera

And another character - Lux Bonteri from "A Friend In Need" in Season 4

Lux Bonteri

Together, these three formed the leadership of the rebels on Onderon. Some seems rather inept by the Jedi and Captain Rex. But for the rebels, they behaved like they did not really want assistance.

From A Separatist POV

In the very beginning, the Jedi Council disputed if they should train an insurgency to take over a legitimately established government. Obi-Wan Kenobi said that if the Jedi train them, they would be training terrorists. Anakin Skywalker disagreed. He thought their resources were so stretched out that having the Jedi fight for them would only make it harder for the other planets. Yoda agreed with Anakin. So off to Onderon they go.

The Separatists offer many valuable assets to governments that join them: Protection, Sovereignty and Freedom from the Core Planets.

Having being-to-being combat is taxing which the Republic has chosen to do. Droids are viable option for beings that are unable or unwilling to fight. Being as the creators of droids should not have to sully themselves in slogging fighting. What the Jedi did was promote terrorism toward an established government and risking the lives of the Onderonians.

From a Separatist Point of View - The Jedi put the lives of the Onderonian Rebels at risk in fighting Droid Technology.

As a matter of fact, they're Sith...

The HOLOSEC: Social Holographic Electronic Interface Liaison Android (S.H.E.I.L.A.) reports from the Confederacy of Independent Systems from a "Separatist's Point of View" on the Season 5 trailer to Star Wars: The Clone Wars entitled, Revival and the fortune cookie is:

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

Out of the gate, when the security droids approached, Darth Maul and Savage Opress easily removed them. What is interesting in the Clone Wars shows, the droid appear to "feel" things. But when Darth Maul and Savage Opress used the Force to trample them, the droids did not seem to respond to the crushing or they did not howl. Making this issue a trope one, perhaps?

Separatists Droids would not have been so easily conquered.

Then Darth Maul asserts his rule over his brother. That is when it is asked, why does Savage Opress have a skirt on?

Then we cut to the scene with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Adi Gallia. They land at the space station that were destroyed by Darth Maul and Savage Opress.

They speak to the warehouse supervisor that readily tells them the droids saw that the lightsabers were red. Next to casually, Obi-Wan replies:

Throughout this episode, the Jedi bring up Sith several times and no one really knows what a Sith is! It seems the Jedi do not either. But for the pirates, they have seen some things about the Sith and what they can do, but are not afraid of them.  Is this a revival regarding the Sith? What about the "rule of two" for the Sith? Is it a "revival" of sorts?

It may be a matter of strength in the Force.

Either way, it shows how easily the Sith can be defeated by rogue bands of pirates.

An angry Sith fighting is not wise to have around. Frustration with a Sith fuels more anger and rampage.

Of course this entire arc is tied into the comic books, Shadow Conspiracy.

At any rate, both Jedi and Sith lose things. These scuffles with Darth Maul and Savage Opress in the crime world mean nothing to the Confederacy of Independent Systems!

In fact, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of the Republic said so with just one look.

The future? Who knows, but the Separatists must deal with a new possible threat of rogue Sith capable of destroying the Droid Army.

What was revived, here?

Separatist POV Episode 4.22 - Revenge - Season Finale.

The fortune cookie is:

The enemy of my enemy is my friend

***SPOILERS***

Right of the bat, the logo of The Clone Wars has turned to red. That immediately assumes of what is to come for Season 5.

Then we see that Darth Maul is getting busy in the back room of the ship with his arachnid metal body.

He mumbles all sorts of stuff, whining and crying as sick as we was. Savage Opress as the caring brother returns him to Dathomir before Mother Talzin who appears within the green mist. Like an animal, Darth Maul follows a green ball of light that takes him to the same "magicks" table that transformed Savage Opress.

On the table, Mother Talzin transforms Darth Maul's body back into a "two legged" cyborg creature with "magicks". One thing else she does that is not well developed, which as removing what looks "spiritual" from his body that may have "restored" his "rationality" than being an animal and a monster. Because after his transformation, Darth Maul is more lucid and coherent.

After a tirade of what to do, Maul agrees to pursue revenge for what the Jedi have done to him. To call their attention, Maul and Savage go to Raydonia and slaughter the innocent to send a message to the Jedi that they want Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi.

Obi Wan decides to go alone to fight his nemesis. But the minute he lands and discovers the truth of it and is beaten by both Maul and Savage. They take him aboard their ship when from a cut, Asajj Ventress appears to collect a bounty on Savage Opress. After a fight, Asajj saves Obi Wan and the both escape!

That was the end of Season Four.

This was a highly anticipated episode and it lived up to expectations. Unsure why Yoda agreed that Obi Wan should go by himself to deal with Darth Maul threat. Thing is, does a Sith Lord stop being one because his master casts him aside? But that is if one considers Darth Maul a Sith Lord due to what is stated in the Darth Plagueis novel.

But Maul needs his revenge against the Jedi and then Savage Opress asks what will he do, Maul replies he well wait for his vengeance. Opress asked what has been done will bring all the Jedi. Maul replies, "I am counting on it..."

Foreboding words.

From a Separatist POV:

No big shocker that Darth Maul was made two legged. What was interesting was Savage Opress' response regarding the "Massacre" on Dathomir was told by Mother Talzin of the betrayal.

It was never explained why Dooku decided what he did. Dooku is just as expendable to Darth Sidious as Maul was expendable. But even Obi Wan Kenobi stated that Maul's head should be cut off.

Is Maul just as strong as he was before being whole?

Then, Maul still held the Sith vice of psychologically messing with the minds of their opponents.

Either way, there are bigger things at stake than just Maul's vengeance and the feeling missing it.

Separatist POV Episode 4.21 - Brothers

The fortune cookie is:

A fallen enemy may rise again but the reconciled one is truly vanquished

Watch "Brothers" on Mastertoons here

*****SPOILERS*****

Count Dooku senses a huge disturbance in the Force and blames Mother Talzin for creating it. He tells General Grievous that this must be dealt with.

Mother Talzin is located in the netherworld moving through her space and Asajj Ventress senses him, too. She tells her new crew that she senses a monster.

He is Savage Opress in search for his brother Darth Maul.

Sensing him was through a Talisman that Mother Talzin gave Savage Opress to use as a compass. He finds out on a planet that just offloaded junk from the garbage planet, Lotho Minor.

The first being Opress meets is a slimy talking snake and it is a travelling circus to find Maul. Fighting creatures that seem to look like "Jawas" and machine monsters named "Firebreathers" who eat the garbage.

Eventually the talking snake "betrays" Opress who falls down a distant "hole" only to find a robotic "Maul" shaped like a "tarantula". Maul has gone absolutely crazy, which appears to Savage depressing. Sort of watching "Horders" and how one allowed them to get so bad.

Talking to Maul, Savage wants to destroy whomever caused Maul to suffer. Maul blames Obi Wan Kenobi. Only Yoda is able to tell Obi Wan Kenobi that his life is in danger and to remain attuned to the Force.

What I found interesting in this episode was the Savage Opress did not care where he was when he was doing things. He was psychotic. He does not play well with others in the sandbox. For his "ex" Asajj Ventress to call him a Monster after creating him, is pretty messed up.

Another issue is Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano were present and Anakin sensed the disturbance in the Force, too. Ahsoka did not. But what got me is they are going to what appears like a 1950's Burger Joint where one of the waitresses was physically choked by Opress earlier. The little Security Droids could tell that Anakin and Ahsoka were Jedi. How???

FROM A SEPARATIST POV:

Dooku should have known better to allow the creation of a monster after his nasty divorce from Mother Talzin in the previous episode: Massacre.

That there would be twists and turns indicate there are changes in the Force that only those attuned to it directly - such as the Dark Side would be able to control. Dooku is not that attuned as he thinks he is.

The Jedi as usual are clouded.

The power of the Seppies did not solely rest on the Force Users, it rested in the people. We miss that in this episode. Is Star Wars just about using the Force? And therein lies what is at stake in this episode. We know it is a prep episode and cannot be taking solely alone, but still.

Here is the trailer for Episode 4.22 - Revenge
